OUR QUALIFIERS FOR THE URBAN DEBATE LEAGUE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!

<p>Congratulations to our winners and all participants of New York City’s First Round Robin Debate Invitational to qualify our city’s top two debate teams to the National Association for Urban Debate League’s National Championship (www.naudl.org…)!&nbsp; The top two varsity teams from each school competed against each other in a two day (17 hour) Round Robin tournament held at Columbia University and the Institute for Collaborative Education.&nbsp; The two schools that will be representing New York City are Brooklyn Tech’s Lyra Decastro &amp; Purti Pareek and Bronx School for Law, Government and Justice’s Charles Athanasopolous &amp; Lenny Hererra.&nbsp; Each team and their coach receives a free trip to Washington D.C. to compete in the National Championships, attend debate workshops, and meet the United States Secretary of Education.&nbsp; Our debaters will also debate this year’s space topic at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in front of the head of NASA!&nbsp; And a huge shout out to The Institute for Minority and Urban Education (IUME) at Columbia University, IUME Director, Dr. Ernest Morrell, and Coach Jen Johnson for hosting our Round Robin Tournament at Columbia!</p>
