On March 28, we closed out the Open League season with a championship tournament at the Queens Innovation Center— an all-day celebration of debate, dedication, and student achievement. The numbers say it all: 500+ students, 200 judges, and more than 350 rounds of debate powering an incredible day.
At the Championships, Public Forum debaters tackled both the season’s winning resolution on mandatory organ donation and a complex national topic on corporate housing acquisition. Parliamentary debaters arrived ready for anything, taking on a wide range of prepared and extemporaneous motions from across the season.

But more than anything, this day was a celebration of the work that got students here.
From our Falling for Debate Workshop in October, through six tournaments, weekly professional learning sessions for coaches, and countless hours of preparation and practice, more than 1,300 students participated in this year’s Open League.
We’re so proud of every student, coach, and volunteer who made this season possible — and grateful to everyone who showed up to make the championships such a powerful close to the Open League season. 💙
